About us
We’re a collective of delivery riders and organisers, on a mission to do food delivery better. We deliver from the very best local restaurants while taking on the exploitative conditions of the gig economy, one meal at a time.
Our story
We first came together as a team during the first Covid lockdown in 2020. Responding to the food crisis in our city, we organised a volunteer effort to deliver free food to hundreds of families in London.
As we emerged from the pandemic, we had an idea. Drawing on our own experiences working for exploitative delivery companies in London, we came up with a plan to do things better. In the process, Wings was born…
What makes us different?
Respect for riders
We know what it’s like to work in London’s gig economy. In our previous jobs, we were paid an insecure, poverty wage, with no power over the conditions we worked in. With Wings, we wanted to try something new. Every Wings rider is guaranteed London Living Wage, benefits and protections. Meanwhile, as members of a rider-owned cooperative, Wings riders have the final say in how we operate. Instead of competing for orders, riders collaborate on all aspects of the business, and are responsible for shaping the decisions we make.
A Local Vision
Our community is our base. We only deliver from independent local businesses, while we work alongside local charities and community organisations to deliver free food to people in need. Rather than corporate chains, we work to connect residents, riders and restaurants locally. To keep our service as accessible as possible for all of our local community, we offer a discount to residents who are unemployed, low-waged, or in precarious employment. For more details click here.
Good for the Planet
We believe in high quality food delivery that doesn’t cost the earth. We’re the only food delivery company committed to using only zero-emission vehicles, and we’re on a mission with our restaurant partners to reduce plastic waste.
